This image displays a schematic of the communications path between the ground
and the EUVE satellite in orbit. The main communications centers are at the
Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) in Greenbelt, MD, and the Center for EUV
Astrophysics (CEA) at the University of California, Berkeley. GSFC is
responsible for overall spacecraft commanding and control while CEA is
responsible for on-orbit commanding and monitoring of the science payload
instrumentation as well as for the science data processing and analysis.
Satellite telemetry (T/M), commands and the observation science plans are
relayed between EUVE and the ground via a network of ground- and space-based
communications stations. These stations include various groups at GSFC, the
orbiting Tracking and Data Relay Satellite System (TDRSS) and its ground
station at White Sands, NM, a series of domestic satellites (DOMSAT), the
Onizuka Air Force Base in Sunnyvale, CA, and CEA in Berkeley, CA.
See the files "COMM_CMD.TXT" and "COMM_TM.TXT" for more details on commanding
and telemetry, respectively.
